I see what you mean, the tail is quite shrimp-like. Hmm, no idea I'm afraid! Hopefully someone here will know more. Have you spotted any harmful behaviour from it?

Welcome to the forum :) Horseshoe crabs are not well suited to reef tanks and can grow very large. But yes, it has probably burrowed beneath the sand.

Oh ok, probably not an ulcer then, so that's good. They can lose colour for a number of reasons, although I was always under the impression that they didn't lose colour in a patchy way - more of an all over thing. Have you checked your water parameters? Anything that could have stressed it out...

Hard to say from the photos, does it look like an ulcer?
