    Living Reefs Action Plan!

I was on all the time a few years back. I have not dropped out of the hobby but my drive for....well shoot pretty much everything was lacking. Anyway...for me I just moved in with my soon to be wife and just had the "joy" of moving my tank but it has re energized me. I will be around and will...

I love the clean up crew...This is the first thread I look at when I do come on. Just havent been on much because of all the wonderful real life crap. Glad the guy in charge finally talked to you, it seems he needs a new staff. They are the ones who suck or are the ones being blamed. I still...

My mandarin is MIA...half the zoahs arent opening but at least arent melting. Right now I am just testing and letting it ride. Not much else I can do. The green star polyps arent opening either....I thought those could live through anything....:dunno:

Where to put macro algae in Sump ?

I think the new design would work pretty well. The only time I get pieces of cheato are when I rip in half to sell to the lfs other then that it stays together.

Welcome to the forum. Ya most people dont use hang on back filters.....but I do. :D I have a sump/ refugium and a hang on back filter. I like it because it gives me added flow cheap, a nice ripple on the top of the display tank and it is easy to run carbon in. Much simpler the a GFO/carbon...

Where to put macro algae in Sump ?

If all you are going to have is cheato in there then the only problems I see are where and how to rig the light and the fact that pieces of cheato are going to get pulled into the skimmer and the return pump. On my sump design I get some cheato into my skimmer pump on occasion so I have to clean...

    Wavemakers

Of course for me its all about the money....I would go with the power heads you have. I had to buy a new tank. I still need to aquascape the new tank...just not enough time in the day. I basically brought in a old tank I still had moved everything over, cleaned up the carpet bought another...

    Wavemakers

Hmmm...when in doubt which is cheaper? I have been on.. off and on...Work has been a bitch...had two months of overnight shifts. Got off of overnights just in time for a tank leak...life sucks and all that...but its coming around.

To cover or not to cover

A solid cover will hold in heat and interfere with the gas exchange. If you dont have a heat issue in the summer and you are running a uncovered sump with a skimmer it wont be a problem except for the salt creep you will get on it.

CUC first will be fine, they dont really have a bio load so its not like you have to wait a extended time before you get a fish. Any new pictures of the tank?

    Wavemakers

The RXL is just going to be turning the power on and off. The only power head that I know of that will live any amount of time doing the is the hydor evolution. I have two hydor evolution on a wave maker (its a on and off type as well) been going strong since September.

Got the new tank...took a while to find one. Everything is now moved over to the new tank. Rock work is a mess and corals are just all thrown in there. I will have to aquascape it later. My boss was nice enough to change my shift today to 5m to 3am. So need to get ready for work now and somehow...
