    I wish I had a answer for you but I have never had a chocolate star because there are not reef safe. I know stars in general do not like any type of swings in temp, salinity or PH. More then likely its the temp issue. Try and keep the tank stable and wait and see.

    Some more information would be helpful. Have you tested your water? what are the readings? What lights are you using? If your readings are good and you stay within your light limits then you can start on corals. Try to get beginner corals and look for ones on rock because you look like you need...

    Red Slime, I'm going Crazy

    Pictures of it would be helpful, most of the time red slime is in low flow areas. It may be that you have some "dead" areas because of the aqua scape.
