Ain't that the truth! I started with a 45g....then when I started my 125g, I applied some stuff I learned into the 125g. And now, because of financial reasons, I'm stuck at just maintaining my tank instead of enjoying it. I thought by now I'd have extra funds to really play with better...

I haven't purchased any new nessarius snails since first starting my tank 3 or 4 years ago...I thought they all died off....but once in a while, after lights out, out they come after not having seen them at all in months! Not even their little feelers LOL I just now saw one while...

+1 everyone, and just to repeat what was already said, definitely be mindful of the fish's basic requirements, too. Obviously you don't want to put a tang in a 30g tank, even if it's the only fish in there. Liveaquaria.com is the best place I've seen that has more accurate tank size requirements.

You didn't give the sailfin much room to escape either way...wait to upgrade your tank to at least a 180and then get your sailfin :D At least he'll have plenty of room to escape or avoid the eel altogether.

The ammonia is what attracts the bacteria into your tank, so +1 everyone, the cycle won't stall...if anything, you kick started it. And yes, cycling with live animals work...but it's really not fair to the fish. Imagine if it were you breathing carbon monoxide. I cycled my 125g that only had...
