    Rufftimes 90g build

Lol, try putting a picture of real boobs? If you encase it in acrylic, it'll hold up to the test of time pretty well :p

My tank is 7 months old, happy birthday Tank

In my experience, every dip is followed by some kind of disaster lol, Reef keeping 101

    Aquarian's 36g Bow Front

Mollies are GREAT for algae clean up lol. Fortunately nothing bad happened without the pump doing what it was suppose to. I've heard some horror stories before about that stuff lol

    Teds 45 gallon mixed reef

If you can spring for it, they sell a floating one that just sits in the sump (internally) and just floats across the top. Helps with sumps that have very little spare room

    Teds 45 gallon mixed reef

Glad to have you back lol. Are you running a sump on this set up? If so, check out some youtube videos on DIY Algae scrubbers. They are great for getting rid of excess phosphates.

    wontonflip's 125g build

There are a couple of Petcos around me that have some decent employees. The closest one to me is run by a buddy of mine named Charlie. I know the system is okay, because, I helped him set everything up for it lol :p

    Marinne's Reef

Bump up the water changes to a higher %. Should eliminate the need for dosing right now

    Marinne's Reef

It happens sometimes. Try feeding Black Worms. Should help them with building a stronger immune system

My First Saltwater Tank! 46gal Bow Front

Diatoms feed off of silicates in the sand/water/rock. Once they have consumed all of the available silicates in the system, they will very quickly vanish. #New tank syndrome :)

Cure the rock before using it. Even though it's dry, quite a bunch of people in my reefing club have noticed that Marco and BRS dry rock tend to leach phosphates into the water. Just a heads up :)

My First Saltwater Tank! 46gal Bow Front

Cloudy water could also be because of the fine sand you have in the tank. In time, as the bacteria builds up in the sand, it'll help hold it together and keep it weighted down (unless you purposely blast it with a powerhead lol)

My First Saltwater Tank! 46gal Bow Front

You can buy the coralife digital therm (It's usually like 10$). Also, get rid of the heater in your DT. You don't need one in there as long as you have one in the sump, and water continues to circulate. Put both in the sump (Redundancy is a good thing!). Like I said in a earlier post, use reef...

    Rockstacker's 120g Build

Glad things are going well for you! Try a sea hare to clean up those random patches of algae! They are great at it :)

My local hardware store has it in stock as well. Can always check with yours too (Whichever is closer)

I used 3/4" return for my cube as well. Like I said, by adding in the reactors, it should help decrease the flow going up to the DT. Worse case scenario, you can just make a spray bar like I did. It worked like a charm, and helped evenly distribute water across the whole tank lol. Or, you can...

When you build the manifold, add a additional spot to tap off and cap it. This way, you can always run a line back into the sump just in case it's still to strong. I managed with it lol (I made a spraybar for it to help evenly distribute the return since I wasn't running any reactors on mine)

I hear you, DIY is half the fun! What's the footprint on that sump? And how's it laid out? I'm personally not a fan of socks lol. As a DIYer I normally just build a tray for a piece of cut filter pad that does the same thing lol. Also, I may have missed this, but what type of lighting are you...

    Marinne's Reef

I felt the same way with them. DD and SA are two places I almost never QT from. But, I always closely inspect everything that's coming in during acclimation lol. To do this day, never had a problem with either, and recommend both. Both can be fairly pricey compared to other places, but, it's...

Welcome aboard! Can't wait to see this unfold into a awesome reef! On a side note~ I had a mag 9.5 on my 60g cube for a while. It was like a pressure washer returning into the tank. 900gph is a lot of return for a 24x24x24 cube lol. My suggestion is to add a ball valve so you can control the...
