    New tank bought on craigslist

It wouldn't necessarily come out looking like that. That particular picture was a experiment where the guy added pieces over and over to make it look like that lol. Most of them end up plating out in opposite directions, while still maintaining their original colors. This isn't just limited to...

    New tank bought on craigslist

No problem. It's still a pretty experimental thing though. Here is a link to someone who's been experimenting on it: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/nftt/

Yes, this way you'll still have a mother colony going just in case they don't heal up well. Google coral grafting to get a idea about some wacky things people have done so far :)

What you should try to do once they grow out is graft them together. Once they are big enough to frag, break a piece of each off, and put the two parts up against each other (touching) so that they heal as one piece. This way you can have a two toned monti cap :)

    Marine Velvet?

Like I said, you can have survivors of it. I had a Hippo Tang and Lawnmower Blenny survive a outbreak that otherwise decimated a DT. But, if it was Marine Velvet, it's in that system now. And unless you plan on tearing it down and starting over, you'll have to make peace with that fact. Though...

    76 Gallon Oceanic Half Circle

All I see on your site is over priced stuff. 20$ PP for fruitloops. and 15$ PP for Rhastas. I see Acros for 20-60 for 1.5" pieces. I see GSP for 15$ for a 1"x1" piece. For a 3"x3" piece of GSP I usually charge 10$. The most I'd ever sell a 1.5" acro for is 20$. And Fruitloops are 10$ pp till 5...

    76 Gallon Oceanic Half Circle

Keep in mind, anything you can get, I can get, for a lot cheaper ;). That's funny how you see death. In the pics I just posted in my biocube thread, I don't see a single dead piece. But, it's okay. You can insult. I priced a three toned scoly out already. With shipping it's 90$. So, you sell...

    76 Gallon Oceanic Half Circle

Nah, we aren't a LFS. It's a buddy and me doing this to help people get pieces they otherwise wouldn't be able to afford. And that's odd that you say you lose a lot of stuff. As far as corals go, we don't lose very much at all. Fish on the other hand, are a different story. If you take a look...

    76 Gallon Oceanic Half Circle

Now now, don't fib lol. I get the same lists your store does ;). Tridents and even some Bleeding Apples can range from 30-60 with shipping depending on the size. Even more exotic ones range from 60-90. Transhippers, wholesalers, local breeders, and local coral farmers. I deal with em all. 350$...

    72g bow

Mario, don't sell yourself short. The fact that you've seen continued good health and growth in your system is nothing less then outstanding. The ocean isn't filled with just the 500$ 1" pieces. Variety is what makes it amazing, and that's what makes your tank stand out as well. Keep up the good...

I figured I'd post a couple of pics of the set up my buddy Mike has in his garage. This is what we do to combat the ever raising prices in this hobby
