    Less fish = healthier corals

On paper, overall maintenance will be easier so you would be more likely to do them. This will equate to better water quality and happier corals. With that said, if you do not feel overwhelmed with tank maintenance with the current bioload then there is no need to cut back on fish. There would...

    Lighting Suggestions

You will probably be OK with a minimum of 4 good quality Par38 reef LEDs spread out along the length of the tank. I'm not sure I get this part... but that's not the main topic :)

    RODI Filter Issue

Try removing all the prefilter cartridges and run the water filter for a few seconds. If it is still puts out very little water then there is a clog somewhere in the line. (Or you have a ball valve set to the wrong setting somewhere). If it puts out the expected water volume without the...

    Missing fish

Have you checked under tables or couches for dried fish? They might have jumped out of the tank.

Don't trust that the RO/DI you buy is good

In my setup, I collect the wastewater in buckets to water my potted plants. When the buckets are full I set the wastewater line on the lawn to water the grass. If the plants/grass don't need watering, the wastewater goes to my swimming pool. You can use the wastewater for pretty much anything...

    Anthony's Reef Mis-Adventures

Well, it looks like you have learned first hand some of the most common mistakes in the hobby. You did pretty well learning from them and making adjustments. :) A lot of people underestimate the importance of that flimsy center brace for aquariums. After experiencing a center brace failure...

My Nessarius snails are funny things....

That's good. That usually means there is sufficient detritus and meiofauna in the substrate that they do not have the need to surface and hunt elsewhere.

    Polyps Care

In small numbers, the sponges are not a problem. However, in some cases they compete for real estate with the zoas. In your case, I would recommend removing the sponges. You can use tweezers or just use a stick to rub the sponges out. If the sponge frags attach somewhere else and survive, then...

    ZyberGobys 90 build has begun!!!

Looks great! I'm really digging the plug terraces. I used 3/4" and 1/2" PVC to support my rockwork too. One thing you might want to do is to sand the surface of the PVC. I did not sand my PVC and what ended up happening is that coralline algae would grow over it, but then hermit crab and algae...

Kalkwasser dosing: Alk dropping, Calcium and Magnesium holding.

If it comes to that, I could go back to the 2-part and set up two 5 gallon dosing containers. One for the calcium, and the other for the alk. They would dose at different times or at different parts of the tank. But I am really trying to see if I can make this work with just a single kalk doser.

Kalkwasser dosing: Alk dropping, Calcium and Magnesium holding.

Thanks. That product is seasonal over here so I got the BRS one since I was ordering other stuff anyway. Same case with canning jars - which annoys me because I try to make fruit jams year round. The 4.5 pound jar at BRS was around $12.00, so it was just a little bit more expensive at around...

Kalkwasser dosing: Alk dropping, Calcium and Magnesium holding.

I wonder if the addition of macroalgae in the display tank further compounded the Alk deficiency. The macroalgae would take in CO2 during the day and could be limiting the necessary chemical reaction. I will have to see if I can test CO2 levels in my tank.

    Fuzzy blue mushroom fragging

In the near future I would be interested in trading. But I want to make sure I have a sustainable population in my tanks first :) Right now I'm still learning about best practices for fragging and these little guys are in no way ready for shipping.

Grow Light cord? What cord do I need for this?

That looks like a Chinese industrial 3-pin screw socket. Take a look at this for reference. I cannot guarantee that this is 100% what you are looking for. Also, I'm not sure if they come in different prong distances. 12mm 3 Pin Screw Type Electrical Plug Socket Connector | eBay

Kalkwasser dosing: Alk dropping, Calcium and Magnesium holding.

Right now I am mixing 4 teaspoons kalkwasser powder per 5 gallon container. This is roughly 40% of saturation. The Aqualifter pump is hooked up to this 5 gallon container and I make a new batch of Kalkwasser solution when needed (every 3 or 4 days). I will increase it to 6 teaspoons per 5...
