    Adding Sponges

i have lots of the little feather dusters that grow on the rocks themselves and they seem to do ok. but the big ones dont get enough food. same with the sponges. the ones that grow on their own do fine. ones i have bought. no. i dont know. something is not right in my tank for them. the food...

i figured with that big i could to. nope. i tried several times and they just slowly faded away. i like my stock to thrive so i stopped trying. i think maybe if my tank was dirtyer maybe they would do better but then other things suffer, so i dont get them anymore

    Adding Sponges

good for you, i have done the same thing. when you know you cant take care of something and you buy it anyways just to watch it die is wrong. wrong and stupid. i know thats how we figure out how to look after some of creatures but killing something just to learn is not humane. i want my...

    Adding Sponges

you need to age your tank for a while before you get sponges. they are filter feeders and require a huge amount of the right size food to do well. also they absolutely can not be exposed to air at any time. they have to be bagged under water and taken out of the bag and placed in your tank under...

is a foxface a good idea

makes a big difference how you put them in there. if you just drop them in there is going to be a lot of fighting. if you use an acclimation container of some kind and let the other fish get used to him first it makes a big difference. i have a yellow, a hippo, a foxface, a desjardinii, and a...

    Curious quick question on maintenance

i clean my glass every 3-4 days, gets a light film of green-brown slime. this is normal, if you have enough light for corals then you have enough light for algae. feeding your fish isn't the problem unless you are feeding way to much. its the waste coming from the fish that is more the issue...

    Snowflake eel???

i agree, your fish put waste in the water, not everything shows up in the tests. changing the water is like giving them fresh air. if you changing the water regularly. ie. every wk- every two wks, then you might find your eel is eating a lot better. you should be changing at least 10 % a time...
