    melted food

If it thawed out completely, most of the nutritional components would have leeched out already anyway. Refreezing it would only create ice-filled husks.

    Saving a Poor Tank

If there are no fish, the tank has virtually very low bioload. The deterioration of water quality progressed slow enough that the corals were able to adjust properly. The corals I saw in the tank all look like "dirty water" corals so they were able to manage.

    Saving a Poor Tank

That will most likely shock the corals and kill them or stress them out. Remember, fluctuation shock swings both ways. If these corals have already acclimated to these current conditions, switching them rapidly to a "clean" tank will probably stress them out as well. The best approach to...

    Favia placemement and color changes

I have this favia for almost 9 months now and I have been experimenting with different locations in the tank for optimal lighting for this coral. My lighting consists of three 120W dimmable LEDs. Blues are set to 40-45% and whites are at 10-15% (Analog dials so there may be some variances)...

    Fuzzy blue mushroom fragging

So far so good. Of the four original frags, two seem to have attached really well to the rocks they were on. The other two bailed out of the rocks and are attached somewhere in the tank (I don't know where). Also, I see three additional small but fully formed mushrooms where the original...

    Open brain question

You are way ahead of me with open brains. The only time I tried to add one to my tank, the flesh completely peeled off the skeleton by the next day.

Can corals of the same species be near each other.

Holy Crap! Your guardian angel was working overtime for you lol. After seeing actual pictures of what zoanthid/palythoa juice could do to your eyes (and body), I no longer take any chances. I don't even let my kids hang around near me when I'm fragging.

Can corals of the same species be near each other.

Zoanthids will be fine. They can even end up in overlapping clusters if you let them grow together long enough. This can be a pain for fragging though.

    LED and PAR38 Lighting

Lower angle optics will focus more light in a narrower cone. So they will provide stronger light, but will cover less area. Higher angle optics will be the opposite. They spread light in a wide cone, but the illuminance will be degraded as it is spread out farther. Imagine the adjustable cone...

    Polyps Care

Just as a reminder, always use gloves and eye/face protection when handling zoanthids and palythoas - even when not fragging. They can sometimes "spit", and depending on the species some can be very toxic. $10.00 construction goggles and $0.05 plastic gloves can save you a $2000.00 dollar trip...

    Silly Cycling Question

I would leave the krill in. This would give the tank a consistent amount of new ammonia being released to keep the bacteria fed. One risk of removing the krill is that if you wait too long to introduce the intended bioload, the bacteria population could scale back due to lack of food and then...

    Hydor USA support contact info

Well, I never heard back from Hydor after I sent them my mailing address as they requested. Anyway, I bought replacement covers online (supposedly the corrected design) and the only thing I could see different is that the rubber stopper is a little bigger and the way it is attached to the front...

    Tooned outs 55g Tank

It looks like you have most of the equipment covered. I'm sure you will end up needing some other stuff here and there, but you have most of what you need to get the tank wet. I would give the rocks a good rinse in RO/DI water. Chances are, there are already a lot of dead matter in the rocks so...
