    salt_for_brains 180g Project

I built the frame today. It is 25" W x 72-1/2" L x 36" tall. I didn't want to have a center brace post so I beefed up the top rails by using 2x8's. The rest of the frame is 2x4's. I used coated deck screws and wood glue to attach the frame together. This thing is stout. This is the 2x8 top...

    Adding Lyretail Anthias

A couple things here: First, I would add them all at the same time. Second, you need to make sure they are definitely all females. Hopefully one of them hasn't started the transition to male.

    Safe algae eaters?

I have always ran tanks with hermits. I am sure they have taken advantage of opportunities with a snail meal from time to time. I have never had my whole snail population decimated. IMO, if I were to do one or the other--- I would run all snails rather than hermits. There are many different...

Going bare bottom on the 180g

Not new to reefing but this will be the first time I have ever went sand less. I think I am going SPS dominated with this reef. I like the idea of being able to really crank up the flow without causing a sand storm. I also like the fact it is easier to clean. I know I will miss out on some sand...

    Macro algae identification?

Looks like a variance of Lobophora to me. I have never seen any that looked quite like yours though.
