    All glass aquarium bulkhead sizes

Does anyone know what size bulkhead fittings come with the all glass plumbing kit? One is smaller than the other. I used the larger ones on my drains and I need to replace the drain lines (long over due) I'd measure the vinyl tubing on the current drain lines but it's hardened and deformed to...

    Please Critique my light Schedule

Cutting your light cycle to 8 hours isn't a bad idea. As far as your light, most AI fixtures are rated for covering a 24 in x 24 in area so at some point in the future you'll likely want a second fixture if you have a four foot tank

Looking for Advice on Algae issues

Going to have to play around with these, woke up this morning and the front sand bed as completely gone. On the up side - I don't remember the last time my sand was that clean

Looking for Advice on Algae issues

Added two jebao rw-15's to the back wall of my tank tonight. They're pointed at the front of the tank. They move almost as much water as my Vortechs on the sides. I'm actually a little nervous pushing any kind of real flow through these things - I don't want them to blow the seals on the front...

Looking for Advice on Algae issues

The sand is mostly the oolithic stuff with a few spots where I put some larger grained stuff due to the undertow from the Vortechs Thanks Erin - been a very rough couple of months with the tank, culminating in having to euthanize my 10 inch sailfin that was with me for the last 4 years, he was...

Looking for Advice on Algae issues

After hours of scrubbing rocks and pulling them out this is what I was able to accomplish as far as 'opening up' my scape I am also debating on getting a pair of some sort of sync able power heads for the back wall - one on each side of the stack in the middle. They'll be pointed towards the...

Looking for Advice on Algae issues

TDS on the incoming water has consistently been between 50-60 TDS. So consistent that I don't even check it anymore. The TDS of the incoming water doesn't matter because for the 3.5 years I have run RO/DI water, the output has steadily been 1 TDS - I verify the TDS reading on the output water...

Looking for Advice on Algae issues

So, its entirely possible that water main breaks on the complete other side of town could have increased the TDS of the water coming into my RO system. But guess what? That doesn't matter because the TDS on the output side is STILL at 1 TDS. If the output water is 1 TDS, it doesn't matter if...

Looking for Advice on Algae issues

I've got almost 50x turnover in the tank with no noticeable dead spots, and the vortechs are on lagoon mode in anti synch so the flow is always random - I don't think the flow is the problem. This tank was algae free for quite a long time with much lower turnover rates Skimmer is a life reef...

    Tunze 9002 Protein Skimmer

Tunze is pretty well regarded in the hobby, I don't see why that wouldn't apply to their skimmers

Looking for Advice on Algae issues

So, I've been battling what I believe to be dinoflagellates for at least 6 months now. I've not made any progress, and I have spent hours reading internet forums and talking to fish store folks and I am honestly at the end of my rope. This post is one last ditch effort to try and figure out...

    RODI auto shut off?

There are generic setups available that will let you add this to any RODI setup. You're looking for something like this: http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reverse-osmosis-float-valve.html

    niger trigger

You're treating your DT for ich? The only real way to get rid of it entirely is to leave it fallow (no fish) for something like 9 weeks, until the parasite runs its course without any fish to attach to. After that, you need to have a very strict QT process. If you aren't willing to keep up a...

    RODI System..what do you recommend?

I've had two over the time I've been in the hobby. A generic one that had issues, and a BRS one that I have been very happy with. Personally, I would recommend the BRS one.
