Since I can't see the Ocean from my office I brought it to my office ;)

Well, seems your on the right track, I would wait 4 days initially before testing the water and then test every 4 days consecutively so you can correctly monitor your cycle, when you have no nitrites or ammonia your cycle is finished, this can take a long time, anywhere up to 2 months :) but...

Since I can't see the Ocean from my office I brought it to my office ;)

HAhaha i love that! :P the boss finally understood what he was saying! Welcome to the site, and cant wait for pics. Do you know much about cycling the tank? if not, in the 'new to reefing' section i wrote two articles which might be useful to you :) they are stickies at the top

    Sump question

One thing, you may need to reduce the baffle heights from 8 or 9 to 6 or 7. When the power to your pump cuts out you will get an increase in water level and you wouldnt want it to overflow. Next part is yes, i believe you should do a fug, they are very useful and provide a safe place for pods...

help i think my wrasse is dying

+1 on the oxeygen defficiency. Point a couple of powerheads at the surface of the water to try and increase the flow. There are different dependencies for wrasses. Could he not be getting the food he requires?

    Flame Angel vs SPS

no matter how much research, you cant be sure on flame angels. They have a 50/50 chance of being a pest to sps and other corals. You unfortunately got a naughty one and will probably lose some sps if you dont return him. Im sorry :( they are truly gorgeous fish

To UV or not UV that is the question.

Irensing, you are actually irritating me. This is one of the most incorrect statements you could have made. Ill give you some facts... A lot of fish die on the way from the ocean, the wholesalers and then to the shops. The next part is most shops move fish quite quickly. They are not kept in...

    salt water snails

If my salt water snails reproduced like crazy i would be fairly happy! :P they are easy to get out, LFS's love them and they would sell fast and they do wonders for the tank.

To UV or not UV that is the question.

Everyone is right, cannister filters cause more trouble than they are worth unless the media is changed every few days which is a pain and a waste of money. A skimmer is the best way to go, which you have. +1 to little fish on the UV. I would not run it unless you have specific reason to. The...

    Question about rocks

I would say setting the rocks up on top of each other is the best unless you have planned out some incredibly amazing aquascaping and want it to be like that for a really long time.... I have changed mine a lot.

    Corals to Host

Torch coral after a few days for me :) look like an anemone i guess! Chances are you will get it and they will host a powerhead, so dont stress, buy things that look nice and they will harrass one of them :D

    anemone problem

All of above were right, but I disagree with the QT idea. An anomone will die quickly in a QT imo. A healthy tank will heal it faster and your tank sounds very good. The only thing is how old is the tank? Also, ive lost an anemone from stinging and running into the powerhead on the first...

    new cycle in 6month tank

Nope, it didnt, cleaning the cannister filter could have released the stuff into your tank. For these tanks we dont want cannister filters or any form of freshwater filters because they harbor nitrates and phosphates. So ditch it and get a good skimmer installed :)

Powerheads- How do I select the correct number of them and at what gph?

In my 60 gallon, i have a 6000 litre per hour and 3000 litre per hour. Soooo what that is in GPH I have no idea. But fair to say you can have a lot more than that. I think its like 450gph total. But that could be wrong. But you need a lot more than what you have. thats for sure.

    New Red Sea nitrate remover?

Good explanation martin :) However you can also balance the oxeygen levels with the nitrate levels and get a good balance, too much of this nitrate remover or alcohol will cause issues, but the right amount can see excellent results without a chamber ;)

The Ultimate Guide: Cycling a Tank, Adding Fish and Corals

Sorry Ghost, completely wrong. You can survive for long period without water changes, but you will get deaths eventually unless your filtration can handle it. Even if you get no deaths you will get very little growth unless you dose every single trace element in the tank. Do not rush it is...
