Help!!! My LR is turning white

This is a new tank by the looks of it and you are having a spike in ammonia which suggests your tank is still cycling. I personally would not worry about. Let your tank settle itself, do some water changes and let it all grow back and balance out. Corraline grows so quick when your...

    Sebae

+1 LF there is no point killing him. Nems are steady when they find a spot they like. He is searching for somewhere to enjoy his life but can't find it. generally we say tanks need to be a year old to get stable unless you are a very good and responsible reefer. I myself I have lost nems to...

    Cloudy Water

No dead fish, no dead corals, Skimmer is not spewing any bubbles, its runing 100% correctly. I am dosing an alk, Red Sea nitrate remover (been useing for a long time), cal and mg, but all incredibly low dosages to keep everything in check. I am assuming it could be an algae bloom?

    protein skimmer

They are fairly shit skimmers, so if you want one that does well, search for a different brand. Glad you are taking out the bioballs though. I would probably use it, but then again, I like trying things :)

    Confused

Wow! You got swindled majorly! https://www.livingreefs.com/cycling-tank-adding-fish-and-corals-t26452.html Read this, I wrote this so people can understand You CANNOT add any fish till ammonia and nitrite are at zero, these two elements are incredibly poisonous to everything in your tank...

Run pump and heater off computer battery backup

It is a good idea to run off a battery backup, but by the looks of it, you will need one much larger in the case of a proper power outage. Tempting to get the vortech pumps because they have inbuilt batter backup and speed control.

    Cloudy Water

Ok, My turn to be back to a newb :) For some reason, the last 3-4 days, my water has been very cloudy. I have introduced a new skimmer, setup a dosing pump and my DT is just majorly cloudy for no real reason! Every parameter is in check, except my alkalinity, which im slowly brining...

    Clownfish Question

I've got a psychotic clown image in my head. But to be honest, 8 gallons is too small for clwnfish, they are a 20g min fish. But, he could just be stressed out

    help with my duncans..

Just let him run, mine go withdrawn when pissed, your are just a little stressed so I wouldnt worry. but feed them meaty items and watch them multiplate, they are one of the faster growing corals in our tank when fed.

How to do Water Changes with Lots of Rock?

I honestly just turn off my powerheads and lights and run it all the way to the bottom! Do that and you will have no problem with your tank inhabitants.

    New Setup Help

Well, one thing I will stop, when nitrates hit 20 that is the limit on what is generally safe in tanks, we want to do constant water changes to keep it as close to zero as possible, In saying that, FLOWR tanks can have higher nitrates because fish are not as sensitive to it, however, algae...

Ok to cycle tank with leftover turkey?

Trust me on this, deep sand bed in your DT is not only useless, but is also dangerous! Move a rock and you can see a nitrate explosion, I had a deep sandbed in my fuge and that was great, because it wasnt stirred up all the time!
