Can corals of the same species be near each other.

How about different colored frogspawns, torches, or hammers? Can they be placed next to each other?

    Came home to a murder!

I'm not saying it's not a possiblilty that he killed the fish, just saying that it's not normally like that. Parameters as in ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, salinity.

Wow dude. Didn't you just start your first tank in March? I wish I had that many tanks in my house.

    Came home to a murder!

Normally emerald crabs will eat a fish only if it's dead. Not when it's still alive. How are your parameters?

    Filter

When I had a canister filter, my nitrates were sky high. Within 3 days of detaching it (as well as a water change) my nitrates immediately dropped.

Needing Help with a coral frag

I don't think it would be ammonia. I think you may be getting a false reading. Especially since you say that you normally have ammonia showing. That is the beginning of the nitrate cycle, so it probably isn't really there. Try using a different test kit to check if the ammonia is actually...

    War Coral

You don't have to feed it, but mine will readily take mysis.

Dro and Mermer's first 29 gallon reef"

A tang would not be suitable for a 29 gallon. I didn't read your thread, but how often do you do water changes? What is your lighting schedule? How much do you feed? Have you tried macroalgae?

Debating MP10 for 5 gal. Pico

Or I'm thinking that you can buy a hang on back filter and take out all the filtering stuff out to use as a circulator.. Another plus would that it could add extra volume.

    Tank question

A tang would not be suitable for any kind of 40 gallon tank. It all depends on the fish you want, how much room you have available, etc.

    Different options to feed it?

Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by pellets to kill nitrates. I guess the ideal condition for a reef tank is to have the nitrates at 0. I was just saying that for me, my lps and softies grew better when the nitrates were slightly higher than 0. So I guess I was basically trying to say...

    Different options to feed it?

I feed my lps mysis or pellets, but brine is ok too. And in my experience euphyllia grow best when nitrates are in the 5 ppm range.

    Trouble with mushroom coral

I'm not too sure, but 16 hours could be a little too long. Sometimes when I accidentally leave my lights on for even just 2 or 3 hours longer, come of my corals (such as acans and euphyllia) will shrink. It would be much easier to place a timer on your lights so that you don't have to worry...

Any ideas for my next fish?

Just remember that in the end you can only have at most 4, possibly 5 fish. So maybe think of what other fish you might want, then see if they can be compatible with each other before purchasing something you might regret. Although I do agree that the clownfish would do fine.
