Couple of new reef questions ...

Sounds like you've read some good advice. Used water won't do much to help, though. Almost all of the bacteria is in the rock and sand. Don't buy live sand, either because you don't know how long its been bagged and sitting on a shelf. I used the Fiji pink stuff, though and it looks great (when...

    Scratches on inside of tank

Not that I know of. You may be able to buff them out, but be careful.

    Lighting a 90

I understand that, but its all a trade off. Unless you can afford high-end LED's, there's plenty of good "value" fixtures or other options all together. I'm not disagreeing that Radions are the way to go by any means.

    Lighting a 90

That's true, but even a nice 4 or 6-bulb T5HO will do a nice job keeping about anything with care and planning.

    Lighting a 90

You might consider if your budget didn't allow for a $750 light fixture.

    Lighting a 90

Yes, those are good from what I hear, but unfortunately my budget didn't allow for any of those fixtures, otherwise I would have gone with Radions and Vortechs for their wireless communications.

Think I am addicted. New corals again today !

Shouldn't. Montis are pretty easy. Medium light and medium flow keep them happy. The other one is a red cnidarina. Its an LPS that likes a slow-moderate flow with moderate to high lighting.

Think I am addicted. New corals again today !

These are awesome and amazingly hard to find. Expensive, too.

Think I am addicted. New corals again today !

What's that first one? It looks like an encrusting Montipora sp. Maybe a venosa?

Think I am addicted. New corals again today !

I want a frag of both of those. Too bad you couldn't possibly live further away.

    Blue linkia star fish

Disclaimer: I've never had a starfish. But from what I've read, they can tolerate enough air to be moved from the tank to bag and vise versa. I think that's more of a hint to people new to stars so they don't stick them on a table and poke them because they're cool and different.

    Lighting a 90

Maxspect Razer is the only one I know that makes a long, single fixture @2XAl said, Ecotech Radions are about the best and they are the most adjustable. They can also be set up to do cool modes and storms and stuff with the Vortech pumps. AI also has some good lights that can be run through an...

    External Skimmers

Cool. I'm just trying to find a way to do some surface skimming to get that nasty film off.

    Blue zoo

Yes, you're technically right, except about the rock. Inverts and coral do add to the bioload, but its so negligeable that unless you have a system like Dennis has, you don't need to count coral or inverts, and even then, its equivalent to what, half of a small (clown goby sized) fish. The...

Kyle's Super Awesome 40 Gallon Reef

She's working late tonight so I'm sneaking one in. I'm pretty sure it's a Montipora digitata because it has the Montipora polyps and has white growth at the tips. Let me know what you think. Oh yeah, it was only $20! It's on a 2" plug for reference.

If he's made it this long, I would think he should settle down, but it may take time.
