can you use an inflatable pool as a fish tank

When I saw this thread in my "new posts" list I thought it was going to go to a bad place. Now that I've read it, its far worse than I ever imagined. Here is the answer: No, you cannot keep Sharks in a swimming pool in a manner that is safe and humane. You need a strong and sturdy aquarium...

    Eric's 90 Gallon Upgrade

Thanks everyone, I should have linked the sump creator: NanoSeaCreations He's in St. Charles, IL and his prices were really really good. The sump measures 23 x 23 x 16. I estimate it should hold about 30 gallons. The only thing I don't like about the design is I went with dual 1.5" drains in...

    Eric's 90 Gallon Upgrade

Things are progressing...swimmingly ;-) I've got nearly all the gear, just need to order an MP40 and pick up the salt. The tank is actually done, but since its a Christmas present from my wife and daughter I've got to wait until early December before I can take delivery. The stand is done...

Cycling Dry Rock Without Seed Rock

Hey Everyone, My Marco Rock arrives today for my 90 gallon upgrade. Initially I was planning to seed with some rock from my blacked out sump on my 30 gallon, but even being in the dark for months hasn't been enough to kill the bubble algae on that rock and I just don't want to risk...

d2mini's REAL 130g Rimless Cube Build Thread

Congrats on building a new home but I am really sad to see this taken down. I view Rimless Reef along with your tank as the two best I've ever seen and truly my inspiration for this hobby. The way you embrace the principals of design and couple them with good husbandry is truly awe inspiring...

    Eric's 90 Gallon Upgrade

This weekend I turned this: Into this: Next week I'll be adding the sheathing and trim. Then, it's time to order my rock :-) I think I'm going to go with supergluing the rock with EcoTech Coral Glue instead of mortar hopefully that'll be easier.

    Heaters

Personally, I'd go with one that is digital...much easier to set. How big is your tank?

Introducing the ECOTECH RADION XR30 LED light system

Holy crap dude, I'd been waiting for these to come out and was excited when I got the email announcement today. Then I visited their site and am like OMG THATS DENNIS' TANK!! I was afraid this day would come...I am now jealous of a new light fixture over my Vertex Illumina

    Macro Algae

Its a personal preference. Macro Algae if left unchecked can spread rapidly and compete with corals for light and space...often killing the expensive coral you bought. I've also see debate about whether there is algae in a natural coral reef. Some say yes, others say yes but it gets eaten so...

    Tank operaton during day/night

I would suggest not turning down the water flow overnight, for corals water flow is essentially how they breath. If you're into the science check these out: Feature Article: Water flow is more important for corals than light. Part 1. Introduction to Gas Exchange—Advanced Aquarist's Online...
