I'm in a weird point where basically any direction I go from my house I can get to a reef store in a hour, but nothing closer... as a result I buy nearly everything online. I've bought from MarineDepot.com, ReefGeek.com, AquariumSpecialty.com, FosterSmithAquatics.com, and LiveAquaria.com but...
You're at the low side on calcium but if you don't have too many corals I'm sure it will be fine until next week's water change. The key you want to figure out is how fast your corals are depleting the calcium from the water. So, test your tank after a water change, then check the tank again a...
The challenge is too get enough fish to really have a noticeable school in a tank your size. In my 90 I have a school of 3 anthias and its nice, but I think you really need 7 or so to really see the school effect. Chromis are a bit smaller which is helpful.
So I had to pull out one of the Anthias into a quarantine tank for treatment with Melafix. He had an injury on his face and I didn't realize it was a bacterial infection until I sent pictures to live aquaria. Unfortunately, while the Melafix seems to be clearing up the infection well the fish is...
I also picked up this frag at Midwest Coral Farms this weekend. They guy insisted it was Galaxea but I picked it up anyway since it was clearly not. The polyps close up into fists like Xenia. Any ideas? I was thinking Blue Sympodium.
Thanks. They're getting fed 2x a day now, and were getting 3x a day last week when I was off work. 1st feeding is Reef Nutrition Rotifiers and Arcti-Pods and second feeding is either Cyclopeeze or Mysis. I also pre-seeded the tank with a ton of Pods and I watch them picking them off the glass...
Pics of the new Ignitus Anthias. A little blurry but I haven't had a chance to reshoot them.
Anthias still look thin (top left pic), but I swear they are eating... Any idea how long it takes for these guys to fatten up to a less scary level?
Thanks everybody. While I wouldn't call this a minimalist tank, I definitely took inspiration from that style and wanted to provide a lot of negative space to balance the aqua scape.
I've been pretty religiously cleaning out the small amounts of bubble algae and hope to avoid the major algae...
There are a lot of things that the clowns will host instead of an anemone, I've had good look with my leather coral. I love my clowns but will wait quite a while before adding an anemone.
I figured I was past due to post an update. I moved everyone into the new tank after about 3 days as their was starting to be some invert die off in the holding tank. Its been really great so far. Corals that had lost much of their color have really started coloring up.
Here is a FTS from 2...
I've got two MP10w ES units for sale. I'd like to get $220 each shipped, or $425 shipped for the pair.
Manufacture Date Unit 1: Nov 2, 2010
Manufacture Date Unit 2: Apr 7, 2011
Both units work great. I upgraded to a bigger tank and got a MP40.
Quick update. Tank is up, and I'm working on bringing up the salinity.
Bit of a micro-bubble and noise problem but hopefully I'll be able to get them under control.
