    Eric's 90 Gallon Upgrade

Well, I think I figured out the SPS problem. It was related to Alkalinity, but not in the way I thought. Apparently you are not supposed to run Alkalinity higher than 8.5 dkh. As I've been trying to maintain an Alk of 12...this is a problem. Supposedly once I drop Alk down to 8 - 8.5 the...

    needs some opinions

I must be mistaken with the sterilizer. I seem to recall a conversation on here about the minimum amount of time the bacteria must be exposed to the UV light in order to effectively sterilize the water and that water flows much too fast for it to be effective.

Well a UV sterilizer kills bacteria that are sensitive to UV light. It will not kill algae spores. UV sterilizers actually don't do a good job at even killing bacteria in our tanks because the water moves too fast not allowing for each batteries to be exposed to the light long enough to have an...

    Eric's 90 Gallon Upgrade

Well, I've got some SPS issues at the moment do we'll need to see how that plays out. Though I think they are more due to my inexperience than the tank being young. Otherwise I've been serif some decent growth and good colors. One thing to keep in mind is that I cured my rock (Marco dry) in a...

    Water Replenish

Sure you can, you would just need to be sure you have a pump that can get the water from your reservoir into the display or if its temporary you could place the reservoir on a chair or something next to the display.

    Feeding sun coral

I've had a sun coral for a while and its been doing well. I have it under a scroll coral which shades it from the light and the result is that the polyps are open most of the time. I feed it mysis on occasion, but mostly I just feed the tank cyclopeeze, they'll grab that out of the water column.

    Slip vs. Threaded Bulkheads

I use threaded but I'm sure slip is fine if you use a good PVC primer and cement.

Nasty domino impossible to catch any HM trap ideas

The only way I've ever gotten a damsel out of a tank is by removing (nearly) all the rock. Hope you have better luck.

    Eric's 90 Gallon Upgrade

2 Months old :-) All 4 Anthias are hiding in the pic but seem to be doing ok. One of my Acro frags has got brown jelly, and the blue colony on the left is bleaching on the bottom half. I'm sure its due to stress from my battles with maintaining Alkalinity, hopefully I'll get some CoralRx...

I wouldn't buy an SWC product, you'd be supporting an alleged coral smuggler.. Owner of SWC faces $1,000,000+ fine and prison time for smuggling protected species There are lots of other great companies that aren't trying to rape the natural resources we all want to preserve.

    Vortec vs Tunze

I would set up your koralia on the overflow side pointed behind your rockwork. This way you can start to get some water rotation going.

    Vortec vs Tunze

Yeah, def. I think 48" is the max distance for an MP40. It of course is affected by your rockwork which is why I think I need some sort of supplementary flow on my 36".
