    ~Crystal & James 29g w/15g sump~

I would be sure to fashion some sort of lid, or mesh or something to go on to of that overflow to keep the snails out. With what I think is just a 1" return it is perfectly snail sized... I recently went through two snail floods in a week...not fun

Need to raise alk - Baking Soda or Kent Pro Buffer?

I have a similar problem, I do a 10% water change weekly and have Alk readings in the 6-7s. I think this is in part due to running GFO for phosphate. I've been dosing Aquavitro eight.four

    Suggestions on new tank :[)

I'm doing a 90 gallon setup in December as well :-) Skimmer wise I think I've decided on the Super Reef Octopus XP-2000. I would recommend going for a skimmer a bit bigger than your tank which will allow you to grow into it. Unless you are going with fish that will eat corals or other fish...

    Coral ID

Mine is on the sanded with a good amount of flow. The things are very aggressive and their sweeper tentacles are quite long.

    Eric's 90 Gallon Upgrade

Going to place the order for the tank on Thursday and I'm struggling a bit on picking. Option 1: Major Manufacturer from outside the country - 1/2" Glass 36x24x24 - $975 Option 2: Stateside manufacturer but not a lot of info about them outside of their local area - 1/2" Glass 36x24x22 - $793...

    Fragging/killing off soft corals?

Growing is a good thing, it means the corals are doing well. The best thing to do is trim back the growth and trade it to friends for different corals.

    Unusual Tank Situation

I can still see salt in my mixing vat. What happened? Is it salt or just calcium deposits on the side of the bucket? After putting my hand in the water, I could faintly smell the aroma of old market fish. Why is it that my supposedly sensitive shrimp is behaving normally in such smelly...

    Eric's 90 Gallon Upgrade

It's gonna take a few months but I have officially started my 90 gallon upgrade! Its going to be a custom rimless tank with black silicon. I've requested quotes back from 5 tank manufacturers and heard back from 2. (One of which was totally obscene) I'm waiting to hear back from at least 1...

    lighting help plz!!!!!!

Perhaps I spoke too soon, I found a 18" T5 fixture but I'm not finding a 12". You can use a bigger fixture but it will of course spill out around the tank. How deep is your tank?

    LFS advice??

You certainly can cycle with that small amount of rock, but I would add more. You are going to need more in order to have enough bacteria to handle any amount of bioload and if you add a significant percentage of rock later you are just going to cause another cycle.

    lighting help plz!!!!!!

Have you looked at hanging lamps? I sure you can find a good 12" T5 fixture and hang it if the mounting legs don't fit. Shouldn't cost much.
