EcoTech are great but the price!! If you can afford it go for it. I am sure the AquaLife would do fine for a shallow reef. The options are wide with LED I am running a Maxspect Razor 160 watt on my reef tank at 24 inches high and my clam and corals are doing great. Beware, like the Skimmer with...

Flow rate can be affected by several things. Your flow rate will be diminished by the amount of head height (the distance between your pump and the point that water is returned to the tank as well as any 45 or 90 degree bends in the return plumbing if any. Also diameter of your plumbing can...

    New Salt

Anyone see the new reef salt by Omega Sea. I decided to give it a shot. I know the company as makers of fish food. Though I primarily feed a variety of frozen food I do keep one can of Omega One marine flake food. I feed flake food only about once a week or twice if I am lazy and don’t want to...

Looks like a battle scar or sting of some kind.

My clown fish is swimming/floating at the top of the tank...

Clowns are funny I guess that's why they call clown fish. My pair exhibit all kinds of strange behavior.

    Low PH

+1 mariobrothersleeve I would not raise the ALK your level is already fine. Natural sea water has a PH of 7.5-8.4 so your PH is not far off of the mark. Just as mariobrothersleeve mentioned that if there does not seem to be an obvious problem I would not over think it. Also PH levels change from...

    Quarantine Questions

I QT 4-6 weeks. If you are treating in any way using Copper or HS (Hyposalinity) the fish should remain in QT for about 4 weeks after the last visible signs of infection are gone. If you choose to do HS as a treatment make sure you have an ATO for your QT as well as a Refractometer, Hydrometers...

    Living Reefs Action Plan!

I wouldn't change anything about the site. I know I have not been around much lately. I do miss it, life just gets in the way sometimes. I will try to contribute more in the future as well. Contests are a good idea even better if they were open to reefers in Canada. This site is a great...

    Hydor Fan Noise

Mine did the same thing when wave controller was switching over. I had the same setup with 4 Hydor 750's and they knocked when restarting. As reefer rob mentioned watch out when they start backwards. Twice I came down in the morning and found my yellow tang stuck to one of them running backwards...

    Best Coral Glue?

+1 Super glue gel is the best. Ecotech Marine coral glue works really well, it is essentially super glue gel that's been triple distilled. It seems a little expensive but if you were to buy the same amount of super glue in those little tubes you would end paying more.

    Can this cause stress ??

Anything is possible but it should be OK, unless of course if it is still freaking out then it would be safe to say that it is stressed.
