    It should be a back flush for the membranes for longer life. If it is manual, it will be valved to allow for back flush.

    Do you run a skimmer? What are your phoshates? Your rock work looks like it is stacked up the back wall, this could assist your nitrates.

    Yea that's the idea. Maybe make the pipe with 2 90 degree bends and have it return just above the surface so that it 'boils' out of the pipe.

    It all depends. If you run more flow thru the sump, on the return you could install an oscillator and run smaller powerheads. It is a preference and what corals you have.

    It's more of the spectrum that is required to promote coral growth. 14 to 16k is the common kelvin beginners use. I range from 10 to 20 depending on the time of day. At 6500k, you will see no coral growth and alot of algae growth. Keep up on the research!

    Nope. I run a reef octopus Diablo 8 inch 225 on my 72g. Works good.
