Little help with nitrates and such

Yeah, that's kinda high. I would continue with weekly water changes. Do 20% every week for a while and get a skimmer. You should see them start to come down.

Little help with nitrates and such

High nitrates is dirty water. Lots of things you can do. Water changes and a skimmer being the top two. You could also try feeding less, siphoning detritus in the tank and sump, and growing macro algae like chaeto. BTW, when you say "high", what exactly are we talking about? Greater than 10ppm...

d2mini's Epic Fantabulous New Reef Build

Nope, it gets pretty hot in my garage. I have a chiller for the warmer months. But two walls share with the house so they are insulated, my garage door is insulated, and the garage faces east with the biggest uninsulated wall facing north so that probably helps a little too. The CaRx is new...

d2mini's Epic Fantabulous New Reef Build

Thanks, Josh. I can't say I agree with you as there are so many tanks out there that make my tank look like a turd, but I appreciate the compliment. :) So I have been working on a little video series. I've had so many requests for a better look at my fish room area so I decided to do some...

    Best water temp/salt lvls

yeah, stick with 1.025-1.026 for a mixed reef. I've run as low as 1.023 for a stronger fish immune system before, but i have since raised it about 1.025. Helps keep your trace minerals up for your coral. Clam is fine. Watch your calcium levels. Clams need calcium.

d2mini's Epic Fantabulous New Reef Build

Yeah, the leds started with just blue and white which was a horrible idea. The multicolor units have been around for a couple years, not all that long. But I do know some TOTM tanks that tried to make the switch to LED and ended up going back to MH/T5 or MH/LED. The cost savings in bulb...
