Are you planning on QTing corals and thing for your larger tank? Because unless you go back In and properly QT the chromis you have there really isn't much point to QTing now. But I would actually just stick with water changes for the main filtration and skip those kits.

I've never heard that before, but I can guess It is likely a reflection of the fact they are probably in water that is toxic to them (ie high nitrates)

It actually won't limit you, fish are more horizontally oriented creatures than vertically oriented. The only exception I can think of is seahorses. The only way I can think of it being a limiting factor is for aquascaping and coral placement
