If it is spiraling it is most likely a feather duster,(tube worm). Your hammer flesh will grow out eventually under the right conditions and separate into a new branch. Pictures accompanied with questions such as this are definitely a plus though.
I have a very good friend with a 240 gallon tank. He has had this tank set up for over six years. It is a beautiful tank, full of SPS. He changes five gallons of water a week, every week. Thats all. If I did not know him I would not believe it. So to say 10% makes me wonder? mmmm? How loud is...
Sarah, all my condolences for you and your family. I never new you were an east coast girl. You will be much happier with the 90 after the downsize. Many of us lead very busy lives and the big tanks just don't fit in. But the love of the hobby keeps us going. Trust me I started my first tank in...
I've glued together hundreds of birdsnest frags. Even the smallest pieces have grown with minimal glueing. At times I have put multiple frags on one frag plug. Treat your frags as you would any other coral and your growth will be good. Although I never glue SPS straight up and down, always...
I'm going to tag along. This week my nova which is 3 and a half years old had the same problem. I noticed it seemed hot and now both fans are not working. If you find out where to get replacements please post.
I don't know where your at in Virginia, but I live in Tucson and I buy corals from this guy... http://www.reefchief.us/ great pieces. You might check him out if he's close.
First, get your better half. Then scape a small spot and say " see how thats done?" Then sit on couch with glass of wine and watch till he is done. Then be happy and giddy and smile and say "what a great person" and whatever and there you go......no more coraline. So easy :)
I agree with Bifferwine. I hate that stuff and have learned over the years only to give it to people I dont like! I grew out of that though. I would not keep it in any tank. Good luck getting rid of it.
Well a couple months have past and you sound in a much better mood. Wish I was closer I'd send you a few things. used to fish Dog Lake and I know by the end of August at times it would snow. So your running out of summer, keep busy.
Great pics. and great info. A guy here in towwn has a 240 for cheap. but its not drilled. I dont believe the bottom of a tank that big would be tempered, so I want to drill it myself. I'll see what happens. Thanks for the link on:bowdown: bits also.
Being a 2 time (slow learner) zoanthid poisining person you can understand my fancy liitle light with glass on it contraption I've posted in a previous thread on here somewhere. Good luck and get well soon....
Heres a pic. of my zoa cutting light. May seem like overkill but I've had my battle with these and they always seem to get the upper hand. The glass comes off for cleaning and always has some small trace of something on it. And i'd hate to go out being done in by a tiny zoanthid!!
